Not sure if this is the right forum for this but here goes. Want to buy a gun safe but can't narrow it down. Don't want to spend much over $1,000. Want at least 24gun, preferably more. Suggestions welcome. Open to anything a t this point.

Depends on what your needs are. Have you checked tractor supply or lowes (check online for both). TS has some nice cannon safes that look like they might be in your price range. If you are looking for classy, high gloss paint,S&G locks and pinstripes, you might need to bump up your wallet limit a bit.
Also check out craigs list, there seems to be a fair amount of used safes on there.

I've been eyeballing the Cannon TS7240 48 gun at Tractor Supply. Then sometimes I think about just getting the $150 Stack On. I need something because I've run out of room in my current safe and I've always told myself I was going to get a big, good, fireproof safe. But here I am looking at price tags. lol, the hardest mind to make up is your own!

^^^. I picked up that safe from tractor supply on Black Friday for 650 bucks out the door. It's ok but definitely doesn't compare to my liberty.

I got the Cannon TS6040 at my local Tractor Supply. It was in the back on a scratch and dent sale. The only thing wrong was the shelve was broke. Got it for 650.00

Guarantee the price tags definitely don't compare either. I'm sure Libertys are worth their price though. That's what I'd like to get, pockets just not quite deep enough. (my pockets)

That,s what I was goin to say. Those box store safes are fine for child protection and teenage theft. But they are all Chinese and made real cheap. How much do you value your firearms? Those steel ones you can open with a can opener and are rust traps.

All the videos I've seen where they pry open a safe, they knock em down so they can really get a lot of leverage. I don't think you can get that leverage when its fastened to the floor and wall upright. As far as how much I value my firearms, well I'm not wealthy to start so I don't have anything really expensive. I always keep a glass gun cabinet with a handful of guns in that I wouldn't be upset to replace (no sentimental value). Hopefully, a thief will will be satisfied with some easy pickens and not spend a lot of time on a more secure safe. Fire is the other concern. I will put the safe in my sunroom as it is an addition on concrete so if the house burns, it won't burn as long, or as hot out there. (And the safe won't fall to the basement when the floor burns out from under it)
If you can afford the best, I'm happy for ya.

KD, What ever you get I recommend a dial combination instead of a digital. My friend is always complaining about replacing batteries, I also read that they are a lot more reliable.

Do yourself a favor and get an AMSEC safe. They are made of welded plate steel and have a plate door with large locking pins. Their east coast distribution center is in Pa.

I have had a Remingtom safe with a digital button combo lock for about 12 years. I have only ever put two batteries in it and I am in and out of it all the time.

You don,t have to spend a fortune to get quality.Cabelas has a 23 gun Liberty with a 45 min rating for $999 and a 48 gun for $1149.They are made in the U.S.A.and have a good gurantee.

I see Cabela's safes that are made by Liberty. Not sure these are the same quality as the Liberty. They appear to be Liberty's box store version. Also added oversize shipping charges to curbside delivery only. Nearest Cabelas is 2.5hrs from me. Look comparable to the Cannon at TSC. Like the fact that they're made in America though. Wish Cabelas was closer to me.

You should also look at the ratings for each safe you are looking at. Several of the companies have lower end safes that are found in the box stores. I was looking at several of the 24 gun Liberty safes earlier this year. Both were at Gander Mountain. One was made in China but had better UL ratings when compared to the one made in the USA. I guess they were some of the lower end. My great uncle has a Liberty Fat Boy and it is a lot better quality than the other Liberty safes I looked at in the 24 gun. I ended up getting a 24 gun Cannon at TSC. I'm sure it isn't the top of the line but it worked the best for my budget and weight restriction for where I could put it. I am very happy with mine so far. I think it is truly like many things you get what you pay for
