puppyhunter61's post about the memorial marker for a hunter made me think of the the "Gum Boot" marker along the Tram road ,off rte. 504, in the Moshannon SF near Black Mochannon state park.
It is a head stone shaped & sized monument, white, and it used to have a rubber boot on top. The boot is gone and so is a plaque inscribed ( I'm paraphrasing cause I saw this 25 years ago)"The guys at the camp know what happened here).
Anybody know the story?

Don't remember the story..our camp is less than a mile, as the crow flies, from the marker....walk by it every year.

Now I know this is an old post, but I was by the statue today looking at timber when I came across it. So I did a search on it and hit a post from here about it. So I to would be interested in what the story is behind it. There now are two boots on top with lots of loose change lying under the boots. Kind of strange
