My sister in law had to put down her GSP a while back. She's starting to feel the need to fill the void. Any recommendations? She doesn't hunt, so that isn't her objective.

River ridge German shorthair pointers just had a litter. They're on Facebook. Believe he asks 800 a pup.
You may want to consider the German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue. Many dogs at various ages. The two breeders I know will only sell to folks who plan to hunt the dog. In fact, the contract for my pup requires I test the dog to the NAVHDA NA test.
Thanks for the replies. I passed on the info. She advised that she was looking at 13 month old from the rescue.

For purely a pet, that's probably the best way to go. Getting a hunt-bred GSP and not hunting it has the potential to make both the owner and dog miserable. Good luck to her, I hope she finds a great rescue dog to enjoy and give a great life to.
