Nice photo's. I had one grouse up today, but no shot. Is your gun an old Iver Johnson?

Thats great! I have an old friend with an Iver 20 gauge passed down through his family. They are from the south and run dog packs for rabbits. His father and GF kept a tally back in the day, the gun had killed thousands of rabbits and several dozen deer when he got it.

Nice pics. You have good composition in your photos. It looks like clover in the crop to me.

Actually, if you look you'll often find clover growing on mountain trails. Grouse love it.

What's a splittail?
There is a break in the white band across its tail feathers (split tail). A solid white band across the tail fan usually indicates a male, a broken band, a female if I'm not mistaken.

Yepper. That's what we've always known em to be.... unless someone knows any different, but I haven't heard it.
