A friend and I are going to try some grouse hunting this weekend. We are from Cleveland and are going to be hunting state gamelands 86 and 143...is there anyone out there that knows these areas or has any other spots that you would be willing to take a couple of fellow hunters. We will be bringing 4 german shorthairs all with grouse experience. I would be willing to pay for your knowledge or trade a northeast ohio deer hunt if interested. Hope to hear from someone. Thanks guys

Hi..I live across the road from SGL86 and also have property between SGL 86 and 143.

I have not hunted grouse in several years or I would take you out in second, i will also be working Friday.

Keep in mind we are getting pounded with snow from now til Thanksgiving morning and we will likely have over a foot on the ground Friday. I think they will be in the pines and hemlocks.

My land has a ton of grouse, but it is narrow and all hill and posted all around so it is not best for bird dogs.

I'd love to help you guys, but you could try google maps and look at these SGLs and find the pines and hemlocks. I hunted grouse alot when I first moved up here and would get 15 flush days working those with snow on the ground and no dog.

I have hunted both SGLs and no the access points so if you got questions on that just ask...wish I had spots in mind for ya.

i know where there is a ton of pheasants right now...if that sparks any interest.

OH Hunter, I hunt grouse hunt in PA regularly, and live in Cleveland also. I have a shorthair and a Viszla. We should get together some time, either in Ohio or PA. I am actually heading to PA tomorrow (Saturday)for a hunt. Shoot me a pm tonight when you get back, interested to know how much snow is on the ground there.
