Started off early with my buddy getting his first bear, a 291 pound boar. Then my dad got his first buck in 13 years. And what a buck it was!!!! His best ever at 86 years old (my dad, not the deer :) ). Ended up the day with me getting a 7-pointer.

Pictures to follow in the next couple days. Busy catching up with work and have to download from my phone still. My dad's buck was a 5x3. The one side was like a 150 class 10-pointer. The other side was a very heavy, long and curving main beam with a brow tine and 10 inch G2. 22.5 inch outside spread.

Here's one. When we went to recover his buck. He came back to the cabin all excited and out of breath!!! We all stopped what we were doing to help him track and drag his buck.

Tuesday and Wednesday were terrible weather days so I'm glad we got it done. My son was up for his first camp so we got to share the moment with my dad (Opa to my son). :)

It's funny, my dad doesn't like to climb stands anymore so he just walks around. He was walking down a logging road and this thing pops out on the road and stares at him long enough for my dad to get a shot off. How often does a mature buck do that? I thought never.

You're exactly right. And of course, he would have rather seen my son shoot a dink then him getting a monster. He's the kind of guy that always wants everyone else to be happy. The Good Lord sent that one his way. :)

Will do, Matchman. :)

The last time he shot a buck of this caliber, somebody else claimed they shot it. There was only the one gaping hole in the buck from my dad's 7mm Mag. My dad told the guy to take the deer. That he was happy for him and he can always get another buck. I never understood how he could do that so easily and I was worried that he'd never get that slammer of his own. 21 years later, he was rewarded. Very patient man - except with me. :D

That's how a true gentleman and sportsman would handle that situation.
Glad you guys had a good opener, days like that are what it's all about.

Here's one more. Getting ready to take it to the butcher. Yes, he put tie-down straps on it before he took off. :D

Congradulations.A few years ago, this old guy who I know, got a doe to the edge of the woods where he pulled it the rest of the way out with his chevy tracker. He packed his stuff in the back seat and drove down a highway and into Walmart and forgot about the deer being tied to his bumper lol.

I'm glad you clarified that it was your dad who is 86. I was gonna call bs because that deer didn't look a day over 78 or 79.... LOL. That's awesome that he got such a nice deer!!!
