First time ever, good shot, left lung, then liver, very little blood trail, Finally found her, was shocked to see the exit hole was blocked by some intestines about 3 to 4 inches across and 2 inches out from the exit hole. Inside was loaded with blood.
Anyone else ever see this? Hunting for 62 years first time.
250 fps crossbow, 30 yard shot, she turned at the string noise.

Thanks and good luck, Stant

That’s a pretty common occurrence if the deer is slightly quartering to you. Lung to liver and out the gut. Guts make a good hole plug.

Congrats on your first kill with a crossbow! I was 60 when I bought mine. Couldn't wait for archery season to start to see what all the hype was all about on crossbows, a doe gave me a shot around 30 yards, Here we go now or never, crosshairs on the vitals, pull the trigger,Doe went about 35 yards and dropped. DANG! this thing is "AWESOME"

Congrats!

I’ve seen what you described more than once.

Often it results in really tricky blood trails, too.
