Do you see what it says in the first sentence,
The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians.
These will be nothing like the ones civilians can own. The firearms they seek are the M4/M16 version which has a 3 way selector for SAFE, SEMI, and BURST. God, even the Blaze can't get it right. More of the same, the media just doesn't know what they are talking about. Let's put fear into the public.

Not necessarily. The vast majority of AR's in the US are semi, even for law enforcement. Usually, the select fire ones are for regular military. It depends on who they are actually for. The only difference between the 2 are the sear and a block in the lower receiver. The point is, it's ok for the gov't to have them but not citizenry.

Also, DiFi's bill specially exempts law enforcement and gov't. Just like Obamacare, the taxpayer sloths can pay the fines, and have the poor care, but the gov't officials are exempt. Same for gun bans. It's the classic, "do as I say, but not as I do."
