I shot a couple of my longbows today for the first time in about four months and what a humbling experiance it was. After the first 2 quivers I literally had to sit down and menatally chart out the basics in my mind. From draw to anchor / set the gap / hold my breath / release and steady hold the bow hand. By the time I left the range I still was not shooting like I did before but I had rediscovered the basics and felt pretty good about that. I was very surprised about how rapidly I had digressed and to what level I had fallen.

i used to only shoot during the summer starting around July. But around 5 years ago or so i started shooting year round, a couple times a week. It made a huge difference in accuracy. Traditional archery takes some regular practice for most people. With regular practice it is possible to be very accurate. I can usually hold my own out to 35 yds with the wheelbow guys.

Can't wait to start shooting my recurve again. I jacked up my shoulder bench pressing over 400 pounds thinking I needed to be Hercules. Now I'm paying for it. Got to the point I just couldn't shoot the bow. Just now getting back to the place where I may be able to try it. Can't even imagine how bad I'll be after the layoff I've had. Gotta keep after it.
