Well I drove in from New York for a day.

I went out the night before to scope it out first. Saw a couple spot of sgl I thought looked promising.

I was in the woods at 530am started some locator calls no responses nothing. Turkey called after 7 every 15 min for an hour in three different slots. No responses at all didn’t see anything.

Alittle frustrating cause all I wanted to do was shoot one. But I guess if it’s easy everyone would do it.

Maybe next time

How does it go in NY? Do you get one every time on your first time out, in a location that you’ve never set foot?

I’d say you had unrealistic expectations...

I have went a week before hunting from sunup until quitting time and only heard a couple gobbles even though birds were in the area. Sometimes it’s just tough but all those long fruitless days makes it even more rewarding when you finally get one.

Not anywhere did I say it happens like that. So wait when you go turkey hunting you never get frustrated? Cause that’s basically what I was saying. You wait all year for this and just frustrating when you come home with nothing. It’s part of the game though I am aware

I understood how you were trying to convey your message and I also was disappointed with some of the responses. Don’t let the negativity get to you bud. If you decide to post another thread I am sure some of us will have your back. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Just want to add that I feel your pain and the pain is real. We had birds going this morning but as always just couldn't get close enough to close the deal. I keep saying there's always next week but sometimes it feels like that trigger squeeze is never gonna come!

My advice: try not to get frustrated so quick.

Enjoy your time in the woods and good luck.

Fade. I hunted from Saturday to Wednesday and only heard one turkey gobble on Saturday. No gobbling Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. My buddy killed a nice Tom on Monday that came in silent. Finally, on Wednesday we had 3 turkeys gobbling all over the place and me and my buddy harvested two jakes. So we went 3 for 3 and was very fortunate. It was frustrating for the first 3 days.

Yeah, really.

Frustrating would be spending the previous month trying to locate bird and not finding them, in areas that used to have birds.

Just walking onto a piece of property that I didn't know, or had no intel on from someone else? I would have had low expectations. To a be consistently successful turkey hunter requires a lot of work and a lot of miles on your boots. Enjoy the journey.
