I could only go and listen this morning due to work, but was able to confirm that there is either 1 or 2 birds across the road where I park. Only problem is, no access.
I did hear one on the side that I can hunt and was worried because there were 2 other vehicles there this morning. As I was leaving the one pulled out too, with no shots heard, so I was relieved. The other vehicle doesn’t worry me so much, as I know his normal route and from talking to him, I’m not sure how well he can hear.
Good luck today to anyone else still at it.
Was out almost all day yesterday and today so far.
Heard one Jake yesterday around 7am. Probably the worst season I’ve ever had in 30 years of turkey hunting in SW PA. Haven’t even seen but one car out the last two weeks so it’s just not me.
We heard the first gobble at 6:30 this morning. He would gobble sporadically until about 7:15 when we eventually fired up a hen who came to 30 yards. I figured that should help our cause if this bird chose to step out in the field. Well, he did, but he had an additional 5 hens with him. Had to leave them to make it to work on time, so the game plan for tomorrow changed and we will be after him instead of the original plan of heading to camp. He has fooled us a few times, but we are getting closer with each attempt. Good luck this last weekend!
12-2 hunt today couldnt get out early at all this week. Had one gobble once 200+ yards soon as I got back to turkeyville. Trying to let him pinpoint himself but he's quiet now. Gonna sit til 2 then go do some camera stuff. Down to the wire should be able to hunt tomorrow and Monday.
Still trying to seal the deal on my second tag with my grandfathers single shot 16 ga. Had one gobbling hard and really worked up: he must have gobbled 50 times. Closed the distance from 150 yards down to about 50 and then shut up: Didn’t hear anything for a while until I heard a hen calling. He must have hooked up with her before he got to me. Last I heard they were going up over the hill: I’d have been done by now if I just carried my 11-87 but I’m going to stick it out with the 16.
It was frosty, quiet an still until 5:50. A total of 7 gobblers opened up 3 close and 4 far away all they all gobbled hard till 8:30. ..Like Trashpanda's day mine was almost a carbon copy with hens taking them away over the hill from me. Today I heard more gobbling than any other day this season. I was fortunate to get a mature bird the first week but cannot figure out this strange season it has been.
