I had the afternoon off so I took the dogs out for a run. The sun has been melting the snow on the high ground and the switchgrass is popping back up nicely.

Other areas still have a few inches of snow and ice but I hope most of it melts this weekend. I was hoping to find some of the quail today but I didn't see any signs of them. The dogs worked the area that I last saw them without success. I did see an owl, 7 deer and a few dove in the area. After that it was time to head to the fields of switchgrass. I saw dozens of blue birds in the area which was nice to see.

I have a hard time getting pictures of these guys.

The dogs kept working the fields and they finally found something.

Nittany and Blitz held well and I was able to get some pictures.

I finished walking the fields and then it was time to go home. What a nice drive home:

The birds are looking good after the rough winter. I'll keep trying to find the quail but I don't have much hope in finding them. My best chance may be to hear them calling in another month or so.

Nice pics! Its so much harder to get flush pics in a non planted situation with flushing dogs.
