there is a happy ending to this story....dog warden called my buddy back today and we gave him the tag number so he could at least tell the dogs owner where it was last seen and he contacted them and told them where we had seen him and they said he came back late last night. his home was almost 7 miles from camp and 6 miles from where we found him. not sure how he made it back but he did and it was a relief to all of us.

GSPs seem to be synonymous with this sort of thing. My Pup's mama was well known through our town as a dog that often ran through her E-fence and took off. She even ran off with her E-collar on once with me at the controls. She just made it a habit of doing it no matter what. Thankfully my boy doesn't do it.

Both of our GSP's were famous runners. The second was very reliable for coming back. The first had to be hunted down.

The female always had to be hunted up. 3 years ago she took off with one of her pups that wasn't sold yet. Left Blackwell on a Friday night around 11 and I got a call from my buddy who had to go to Boston on business that they were found in State College on Tuesday. I drove the 2 hour drive to meet the amazing people that found them and bring them back to his place in Wellsboro! Amazing how far their dang noses will take them.

Great ending to this story. We rescued a GSP almost 7 years ago. She was living in the woods and we could count every bone in her body. She lived with us for 6 years and finally had to have her put down last winter.
