The forearm split on my 1196 12 gauge. I emailed Remington but have not yet got a response. The stock split about 2/3 the lenght of the forearm. It's a clean split, I'm wondering if it can be repaired? They only made the shotgun for about 3 years. My internet search for replacement stocks came up empty. The shotgun belonged to my father who passed away in '02. Any ideas on a place I can get it replaced or repaired if Remington does not come through?

Remingtonmight replace it. If syn an easy repair. Most wood can be repaired also. Wood splits are usually from wood drying out, but rem finishes usually keep them sealed.

I have the 870 ultra lightweight, no stocks or barrels availabe.

See what rem says.

Note: Voted 1997 Shotgun of the Year by Shooting Industry magazine. Discontinued in 1999? so much for shooting Industry market knowledge

It has a walnut stock. No word from remington yet. It is a nice light upland gun.
