I'm still using up the 150grn Dad had left when he passed. I see no reason to go smaller.

Actually Mike, there was a guy from Washington County....George Block, who used to write a lot of deer hunting stories in Game news....He once published a 270 load utilizing a Sierra 110 gr. Spire point and wrote several stories where he used this load for whitetails with very good results...Being the 270 "fan" that I am , I tried this load and shot several bucks with it, with devestating results, I might add...If not for the advent of the 130 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip, I would probably still be using this 110 gr. bullet...It put deer right down.

Sure Ken, but we only talk "serious" hunting bullets here.

I voted for 150 grain as that is what I shoot in my 270 Weatherby magnum.I recently got a Savage 110 in 270 winchester that I will probably try 130's in it though

Since I just got 400 140 gr Ballistic Tips need to vote this way. GF uses 130 Rem Accu-tips in hers for 1" at 100 yards.

150 is the best bullet for bear,130 is too light for bear and 140 is borderline but would probably get the job done.

I shoot 130s out of my Savage 110 .270Win. I don't dislike the 150gr fodder, it's just that my rifle hates them! I can print 100yd MOA groups with most 130s, but the 150s I've tried could not best 3MOA.

It matters more so what the bullet is, as opposed to what it's weight is. A good 130 or 140 grain bullet would suit me fine in the 270. However, I'd be more inclined to take a 110gr TSX over a 150 Core-Loss.

I couldn't make up my mind between the 130's and 150's to I got the 140 grain gamekings. No reports on kills though. Never hunted with it....yet.

130 hands down!! According to Mr. 270 Jack O'conner...the 130 grain was the optimum Big Game 270 Win bullet being second to none!! My first several years in the sport i toted a 270 & strongly agree!!
Of course, that was before i saw the light & moved a notch-up into the 30 plus calibers!! lol

Think about it like this:
Sectional density is the bullets weight in proportion to it's diameter.
A .277 cal 130gr Hornady Interbond has a S.D. of .242
A .277 cal 150gr Hornady Interbond has a S.D. of .279

A .30 cal 150gr Hornady Interbond has a S.D. of .226
A .30 cal 165gr Hornady Interbond has a S.D. of .248
A .30 cal 180gr Hornady Interbond has a S.D. of .271

Using a 130gr .270 bullet is along the lines of using a 165gr .30cal bullet and using a 150gr .270 bullet is along the lines of using a .30cal 180gr bullet.
Being of equal construction and velocity similar results should be had on an apples to apples comparison in game.
