I'm wondering if anyone has used Woodcock in their tying?

I have, but not for years. I have so many partridge feathers, I could tie for a hundred years and not run out. Most game birds (grouse, woodcock, pheasant, quail etc.) have usable feathers.

But now that you brought the topic up, I'll have to dig through my feather collection, find a woodcock, and tie something.

You can use woodcock for tails and legs on wet flies and nymphs. Can also wrap smaller feathers for soft hackle flies.

I just found a bag of woodcock feathers and complete wings. The wings have the best mottled feathers, especially close to the shoulder.
