Did they make a mistake? the book says 1/16/2012 for the end of the flintlock season. Was there a retraction I missed? Seasons typically end on a Saturday.

I plan to march, in an honorable manner, well into the hinterlands of Berks County on that extra day of the season. Enjoy it in Martin's honor!

Our late Flintlock Season isn't held in high esteem. We essentric flintlockers are more or less appeased with the dregs of the Pennslylvania deer seasons. But, we have a special season, unlike any other in this Country, and we are generally content to harvest antlerless whitetails with our smokepoles.

If this special season becomes an issue,(inlines, etc.)I hope there are sufficient numbers of flintlockers willing to stand firm in support of this "one-of-a-kind" season. It is important historically! Pennsylvania gunmakers produced America's weapons used to protect, feed, and push Pennsylvania's boundries west.

Keep your powder dry, and aim small to miss small!

That's correct. That Monday is always a holiday(I think). They changed the ending date starting this year.

this will be at least the second year for this and maybe the third!

It is perhaps problematic to the GC that flintlockers have this extra day. We tend to harvest so many whitetails with our antiquated arms, management of the herd becomes a serious problem!

I'm not trying to argue or belittle but because I was sure this was the first year for the extra Monday of flintlock statewide I looked up the seasons in the last couple digests. In 2011 it ended on Sat. Jan. 15. In 2010 it ended on Sat. Jan. 9. In both of those years in SRA the season was extended for two weeks to match the archery season.
Respectfully,
FH

Have to agree. Ended on Jan 15 last season which is a Saturday. Maybe you are thinking of Spring Gobbler where they extended it into Memorial Day. (Monday)

I agree...!! If the flintlock season gets messed with that would be a disgrace. It's a season for "flintlocks" not for a deer rifle with a 3x9 variable scope etc... that I just happen to ram the modern bullet down the muzzle on top of my smokeless pre-measured powder and poke a deer a 200 yards. It's for primitives...
