I own one muzzleloading rifle, and don't intend to buy another one. My bear buddy and I were just today talking about the upcoming ML bear hunt & he wondered if a .50 roundball might be light for bears. I think if you can stick one in his ear or between the I's he will go down. Anybody know any good bear trackers just in case?

I'm sure a .50 patched ball will do the job on a bear, as dgc alluded to, shot placement is key. My two flinters that I might consider bear medicine are my .50 1:48 twist, which throws a 370gr Maxi with a 90>100gr FFG charge, and my .54 1:60 twist using a patched ball over 100grs of FFG.

Your .50 will do it, just pick your shots and keep the range short. Good luck, hope you get one!
