What way do you place your flint in the lock. Bevel edge up or bevel edge down?

Which ever way it works best. Not being a smart alec, thats the way it is. As high as possible on the frizzen without touching it at half cock and still pushing it open, and ideally pointing to the center of the pan when the hammer falls.

a old timer told me the flint after striking the frizzen in the down position should form a tunnel to the touch hole

I put long side at top.My reason is to strike as high as possible and long as possible travel on the frizzen.Distance between flint and frizzen is 1/16".
