Fletch glue vs. Super glue

I use Loce-Tite brand super glue gel. It holds up well &you can buy 4 x the amount as fletch tite for the same price.

Once the fletching comes off, it's pretty much worthless. Regluing them doesn't work well. Fletch-Tight Platinum is pretty good (all I use for Blazer vanes). Super glue will work but it tends to get brittle and ineffective after a short period of time. Key is proper shaft prep- scrub with a green pad, then wipe with denatured alcohol, then don't touch that area.

I always used goat-tuff.

I used Gorilla Glue brand super glue with
vanetec vanes on carbon arrows with good results. The package says it's impact resistant. Like Guru said, proper shaft prep is most important, no matter what glue you use. Bohning platinum works well also, just takes longer to dry.

I use double faced fletching tape myself with a dab of dura-bond glue on the ends.

Fletch-tight platinum. The key to good arrow fletching like hittingguru said is good arrow prep and the right amount of glue.

I'll agree with your prep tips, but not the super glue comment. I have been using it for a more years than I can remember. It works very well as long as you're not using the cheapo dollar store crap. I use Loc-tite gel with excellent results. I mainly use it because I can just go buy it anywhere and there are no bow shops anywhere close to where I live. Plus it sets extremely fast which is a plus for me because my time is always limited it seems.

In my experience, Fletch-Tight Platinum works great when the shafts have been meticulously prepped, and depending on the amount of prep adheres more poorly the less is done. Either way, it requires more time to cure and make a good bond. Pound for pound, though it's hard to beat a cyanoacrylate glue, especially in gel form for controlling the bead down the fletch. My favorite is LocTite Control Gel, and it sets up in seconds.

They will both work well when fletching new shafts but when it comes time to reflecth I think it is much easier to scrape off the leftovers with fletch-tite type glues than the superglue types of adhesives.

I just use fletch glue when fletching arrows, but ill use super glue when installing inserts.

If you are going to use super glue for fletching then your probably going to have a mess on your hands. Wiping away the excess of fletch glue barely leaves any residue then super glue would.

"Glue works, as long as you don't just use glue."

On new instant glues, I'm always worried about gluing the arrow permanently to the fletcher. They always say the glue works so good.
My glue use to work, but they discontinued it. And I had that glue use down pat. Then I had to read the new glue wasn't as good. And some of these arrows cost $10 apiece. Foul up the first couple of attempts and we're talking some real money.

It all depends on how good of a control you have on the glue coming out of the bottle, that's why I prefer either Fletch-tite or gel glues. If you can keep a narrow bead down the center of the fletch, there wont be any mess, the glue will spread out underneath the vane with minimal excess, if any. The loc-tite control gel bottle is the best, because you squeeze the two sides like buttons and it allows you to control the flow extremely well. (In my opinion!)
