I set my Traps on the 18th of Dec for Coyote and Fox. I check my traps on the morning of the 19th. A Fisher is in one Trap. Do I:
A. Release the Fisher since the Trap was set on the 18th
or
Keep the Fisher since it is the 19th.
Thanks

Trying to decide on vacation days. 18th-20th or 24th- 27th. Place I have for Fisher and Bobcat is 2 hours away. Brother's place. Would be driving back and forth. Worth it if I got at least one critter.

It is hard to catch a Fisher during the short season. I managed to last year for the first time since we have been able to trap them. And I have had years with 30+ sets out. Not strictly for Fisher, but in their areas.

Brother told me the neighbor has seen at least two. That will build my confidence up. I'll be using footholds with cat collector lure and Federales from Clint. Anything different I should use for Fisher? Thanks

"Keep it if it is in season. Don't matter when you legally set the trap."

the year i got a fisher in season, it was on a remake of a set i snapped a gray fox in about 2 weeks prior....which was a set i put in about 2 weeks before that. so my steel was in the ground for at least a month, but what counted is i had a fisher in it during season. technically you didnt set your traps 'for fox and yote'; you set traps and hoped it'd snap a fox or yote. in reality, setting traps makes them functional on any kind of animal, including non-targets which i'm sure we've all caught. if your daily check nets a fisher in season, its yours, assuming you have a tag.

For fisher, try "Gusto" lure, by Caven. Really loud smelling. Any dirt hole set will catch them. They seem to be drawn to previous catch sites. Ridge top logging roads are a hot spot. If you can find a good turkey roosting spot, if you have fishers around, they'll visit the roost locations with regularity.

Anyone have beaver meat for sale. Thinking this would be great for Bobcat and Fisher. Have heard good reports of theses being in the area I am going to.
Thanks

You don't necessarily need bait to catch a fisher. I caught 2 of them in a three hole flat set. Both using red fox gland lure, Leggett K9 exciter and another lure in the third hole.

after doing some serious reading, it states you cannot set traps before 7am on opening day. opening day for Fisher and Bobcat is the 19th. Believe this answers my question.

Blame it on my military training, I look at all possible scenarios. So here it is: Trapping on private land, CO happens to be there checking things out. Sees a couple cd's hanging from branches on the 18th. Waits until the 19th and "happens" to be in the area again. I have a Bobcat or Fisher. In my mind, I am screwed. Overthink, maybe. Playing it safe, yes. Like I said, military training. LOL Any present or Retired CO'S on here to respond?

bc1, there are 1000's of traps set (for Coyote, Fox & Coon) this week in Pennsylvania that may(will) take a Fisher and Bobcat this weekend.

Beaver meat- You don't need it. Fisher are a dark colored Possum. If you can catch a Possum...
Relax man, enjoy yourself and the time in the forest, smell the Pines and moist soil.
