My nephew got a metal detector for his 10th birthday and has barely used it so I told him to bring it up the next time he visits.

Over the course of the year I have lived in DuBois I have heard stories the Tom Mix grew up in a cabin that would have stood about 100 yards from where my house is and that he probably learned to ride horses in what is now my yard. I figured it would be cool to look for some buried treasure from a Western Icon.

We didn't find anything I could say was too old but it was cool to find some things.

In about an hour of searching we found 2 nails, a pop top, and a pair of pliers.

Ahhhh, I remember those days! I really wish I would have saved the 27 gallon drum worth of rusted items I found when I first started out. It was amazing how much crap I dug up!

LOL ! I wish I'd have saved all the PULLTABS . Not knowing at the time aluminum scrap price would go through the roof 20 yrs. later . I could have paid for a second detector .
