Not much of a mountain biker but I do have a real sweet road bike I use when I go for rides with the kids. I'll have to find a picture of it or pull it out and get a picture. For the love of me I can't remember the name of it. My cousin gave it too me. He is a hardcore mountain biker and has sooo many. This was his in city commuter till he moved out to the sticks. Lol

I have used a mountain bike for most of my spring gobbler and a good bit of my deer hunting for about thirty years now. I have had my bikes set up for hauling my gear as well dead turkeys or harvested deer.

I am in my seventies and had worn my last mountain bike out and needed a new bike. After a lot of consideration about what kind of bike to buy I made the decision, a little over a year ago when the national forest and many areas of state forest roads became legal for e-bikes.

Now I used my e-bike for hunting. Just a darn shame I can't turkey or deer hunt on the game lands any more.

I’m riding a Canyon Spectral 27.5”. Don’t use it for hunting or anything like that, I ride single tracks. Had a compression fracture in my lower spine last spring so I didn’t ride at all since and just have been on my road bike but may hit a trail this weekend. I don’t have the confidence level back yet but I know the only way is to get back on the bike.

MTB racing was one of my passions.
..raced and rode in PA, NY, WV and MD..back in the late 90s to mid 2000s.
Got to meet hundreds of people and raced with some MTB greats...

I use to ride quite a bit, but as time went on and life took over that became less. Had a pretty bad septic infection in my leg at the beginning of last year, and was fortunate enough to get through everything and still have two legs lol. Was looking into starting up again to get back into it. Looking to get a decent mountain bike, but don’t want to spend a ton of money on it. Will primarily ride old logging trails in back of my house. Any suggestions appreciated.

I am by no means an experienced mountain biker and am more of a casual rider. I mostly ride rails to trails systems. On occasion I ride easier single tracks but not often. I have Giant Talon 2 29 inch hard tail.

I'm in the process of setting up a hunting rig. Trek Marlin 5 29er that I bought heavily used a little bit ago. Planning to paint it camo and get put some racks and lights on it. I should have known the price was too good though, til I replace everything that should be replaced I could've just bought a brand new one:rolleyes:

I hate to brag, they don't build them like this anymore. I bought this at the PX in Nuremberg, Germany back in 1990 and it's still my main ride....it's a Schwinn Impact, I just pressure washed it this weekend. The tires, saddle and derailer are not original, but it still goes where trails don't. We used to say, "anyone can ride on a trail" back in the day. I need to ride it more.

Glad to see so many of you enjoy a bike too!!
Nice to have a forum.
I used to race cross country 20 some years ago. Now I’m more of a once a week trail rider.
Heavy, technical single track is what I favor.
I certainly don’t last as long on each ride like I used to, but still enjoy the rush!!

I’m fortunate to have some pretty darn good places to ride locally. One being Roaring Run trail in Apollo. Been pedaling there since it’s inception. Another great place for single track is Yellow Creek state park near Indiana.
Beautiful, sweeping single track trails, and lots of wildlife to see. Saw a bear last summer riding Baker Trail at Crooked Creek park.

I'm an avid biker and own a Specialized Crosstrail Elite right now. I sold my Kona Cindercone and do more trails and service roads on my Crosstrail. I did from Pittsburgh to Cumberland Maryland on the Great Allegheny Passage one weekend, about 150 miles. I made it from Pittsburgh to Confluence Pa. on Saturday and camped that night and made it to Cumberland early afternoon on Sunday. Been thinking about going all the way to Washington DC soon. Really scenic ride along the Youghiogheny River. This post is a little picture heavy but I highly recommend doing the GAP trail there is so much to see and places along the trail to stop.

I bought a Rad Rover. I like it and have had good luck with it so far.

The only thing I would have done different knowing what I know now would have been I would have got the step through model. I got the one with the bar because I thought I would haul it on my normal bike rack but it is too heavy to lift up there. I ended up building a bike rack where I can pretty much just roll the bike up onto it and strap it in place. The step through model would have been a lot easier to get on and off.

Dick Bodenhorn
does it have the hub motor or the center mount?

I have a Raleigh M50 that I've been riding since 1995. It's been all around the US, and quite a bit of Germany. I've had it in the Rockies and the Alps. I gave it a full overhaul last year, so it should be good for another 20 years. The newer Diamondback that I have is my backup bike. :D

Pic of the Raleigh is from a few years ago while riding in the Black Forest near where we lived at the time.
