I am getting close to that point on my second bow and wondering how to finish it up also. Are you putting any type of backing on it?

From what I've read Pine will work fine but it needs a backing. The bow I'm working on now is red oak and I am going to back it with silk.

My first hickory bow that I am going to try to recover I am going to use deer back & leg sinew.

Good Luck

I'm going to use some kindof clothe backing; we'lll find out ounce i actually have the money to buy it. I just stained the new stepps i helpped install in my steps and its a very pretty stain i might use the left overs. Its a organgy brown. i think its beautiful. also a redish might not look bad?
