I shot my first deer with a crossbow last night at about 6:55. I had cleared a new stand site last weekend, and darn if she didn't walk through right where I cleared. Nice 11 yard shot.

I hit here a little high and the low side exit wound was higher than I ideally would have liked, so she bled into her chest cavity and the blood trail was only O.K. I trailed her initially based on where I watched her run and soon picked up the trail. The trail petered out several times and I finally started walking loops around the area and found that she had doubled back on her trail and dropped on the same tree line where I had shot, but thankfully a hundred yards or so closer to the truck.

So far so good. btw, shooting her with a crossbow was just as satisfying as any deer I've shot with a vertical bow. I was a happy camper.

Sweet! Was hoping that mxb would draw some blood soon. Congrats to you on the fine doe.
