Again this May I plan to put one of my plots with soybeans. I plant by disking, broadcasting and then cover with either a cultipacker or drag. When do you guys think is the best time to apply the fertilizer (5-26-26)?
1. Spread fertilizer then disk (fertilizer buried by soil)
2. Broadcast seed, spread fertilizer then cover (fertilizer close to seed but some may evaporate)
Like to hear some thoughts especially the reason why.

we lightly till our fertilizer in with our lime before planting. Nitrogen is the one that gets lost, Potassium and Phosphorus wont but always watch with phosphorus around waterways thats what will cause big algae blooms. I always try to look and learn from what farmers do and some do strip tilling and deep band there fertilizer and put it like 8" down into the soil.
