Hi, I planted two plots with turnips & rye a couple wks ago and both came up. I didn't get a chance to put any fertilizer down then and I was wondering if it's safe to use some 46-0-0 now or if that will burn them? Thanks

I would go with a general purpose like 10-10-10. Would be safer and all around better for the plants. All nitrogen will give them a shot of growth and then done.Did you lime? More important than anything else in Pa. That thing called acid rain.

I generally broadcast 46-0-0 onto my brassicas after they come up. Also incorporate it into the soil at planting.

Put some down, just do it when the leaves are dry with no dew on them. If you can time it with rain in the forecast, thats even better.

100 lbs per acre.

My plots are 200 miles away. Even without a chance of rain, if I'm there, I put the fertilizer on. Altho, it seems that if I put enough on at planting, little need for more.
