On small animals with small ears a Sculting epoxy like SculpAll or All Game can be used with great results. It gives you two or three hours working time and the edges can be feathered nicely.
X2 on the sculpting epoxy. I've aso used latex caulk with good results. The caulk gives you a day or two working time. Let it in the ear long enough to stiffen up from the outside then just squeeze the excess down to form the earbutt.
you can leave the cartilage in with an earliner, just be sure and thin the liner down good. taking the cartilage out on small mammals is non exisistent for me anymore
