Chip Kelly isn't through with adding quarterbacks this offseason.

The Eagles are expected to sign Tim Tebow on Monday for the start of spring workouts, a NFL source said.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer was first with the report.

While Tebow has had looks at other positions during his brief NFL career, he will be brought in as a quarterback. The Eagles already have four quarterbacks on the roster with Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and G.J. Kinne. Bradford, who is rehabbing a torn ACL in his knee, isn't likely to be ready for practices on Monday.

Tebow's contract is for one year, a source said.

Tebow, who hasn't played in a NFL regular season game since 2012, worked out for the Eagles last month. Coach Chip Kelly was asked why he brought the 27-year old in for a look-see the following week at the owners meetings.

"I've always been a fan of Tim," Kelly said to the NFL Network. "We bring in a lot of players for private workouts, it's just he's the one that everyone keeps talking about. We brought in Terrelle Pryor for a workout and Thad Lewis in for a workout. When players are available for you to work them out it's the same thing of going to the Veteran Combine or going to the Super Regional Combine.

"It's getting an exposure to a player so that when you have to make a decision and say 'Hey, what are we going to do now. You say, I don't know anything about these players. Let's bring them in and work them out, and it may be too late at that point in time.' So all we're doing is just doing our homework."

Tebow was last with the Patriots during the 2013 preseason. He was cut before the regular season and never caught on with another team. He began working in broadcasting in Dec. 2013.

After a successful college career at Florida in which he won the 2007 Heisman Trophy and a national championship, Tebow was drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 draft. He helped guide Denver to the playoffs and won a first round game despite lacking traditional NFL quarterback skills.

He spent another year with the Broncos, but was traded to the New York Jets before the 2012 season. With Sanchez as the starter, Tebow was used sparingly, mostly as a runner out of the Wildcat formation.

If Tebow is to have any chance of making the Eagles' 53-man roster his best chance is winning the third quarterback spot behind Bradford and Sanchez. That is assuming, of course, Kelly doesn't draft a quarterback. Barkley's grip on the third spot is nowhere near secure.

Kelly prefers multi-positional players and could be swayed to keeping Tebow if he can perform other tasks. The Eagles offense has plenty of flexibility for mobile quarterbacks.

Still, Tebow's odds are long.

Let's see, the Broncos wasted a first round pick on him and traded him to the Jets and he couldn't beat out Mark Sanchez. The Jets didn't want him and he goes to the Patriots and they cut him. The entire league had a chance to sign him in 2013 and 2014 and nobody wanted him but Chip is a Tebow fan. Stay tuned on this one.

Was Jamarcus Russell unavailable?

This will mark the very first time in recorded history you will find Giant, Cowboy and Redskin fans hugging and buying one another drinks in celebration.

Maybe he's gonna package Bradford, Sanchez, Barkley and Tebow in a trade to move up to take Mariota. He could toss in Reilly Cooper and the Phillies will give them Ryan Howard to sweeten the pot.

Relax! Plenty of time to sort this out. T is no closer to being a starter then the current 3rd stringer

I'll say it again.....
Give him a chance. 2 10 win seasons with virtually the same team fat Andy had. Be patient. Change is for the good, going nowhere with what they had. Gotta think outside the box

chip Kelly likes to have 5-6 quaterbacks for the offseason and training camp etc.
so in the big picture it doesn't mean anything.
hes just a camp body

that said , hes a human distraction and I would not have signed him just because of that.

I don't foresee him making the squad,if he does make the team , even as a 3rd qb then I will get worried

He needs an arm for spring mini camp cause Bradford isn't ready. I think they might try and get a #4 or for Barkley that leaves the Eagles with 3 pedigree quarterbacks but none that will make it to the super bowl with.

What exactly would you get in return for trading a 3rd string QB?

Bradford, Sanchez, Barkley, Tebow. These are the guys that drive the Eagle offensive machine. Murray is going to see 11 men in the box all season. You MIGHT get a 3rd rounder for Bradford. Toss in the #20 pick, maybe a late first rounder. Since no team would sign him as a free agent for 2 years, Tebow has ZERO trade value. Sanchez and Barkley might fetch a 6th or 7th. Charles Barkley might be of more trade value. I can't see a reason that any team would make a trade which would allow the Eagles to get Mariota. You are talking about a POSSIBLE franchise QB. The last time such a deal was made, the Chargers made it. They gave up Eli Manning to get Phillip Rivers. Philly would likely have to trade Murray to get Mariota.

The browns really want Bradford. They're balking on it now but give them time. They'll trade Johnny Boubon and their #1 pick to get him. It's just what the Browns do.

any team could have had sanchez.
any team could have had tebow.
no trades involved.
barkley so far isn't worth anything in trade value and if you do get any late round pick for him law enforcement should be called.
Bradford is the only qb with any value ,but that value will not get you anywhere near the top 5 in picks.
theres no sense in trading him unless you can get the qb you want

Don,t laugh, his arm kicked the Steelers out of the playoffs.
Yep--on a throw that most jr high QBs can make. It may have had something to do with them not being able to tackle Demarius Thomas.

Bradford said he would not stay if traded to the Browns and he is in the last year of his deal now, so there is nothing guaranteed Bradford would even be on a Fall 2016 Eagles roster.
I think its all just a head game Kelly is palying and even he knows he has a better shot at getting elected Pope than to trade up to get Mariota.
Kelly would have been better off signing Micheal Vick to a one yer deal than Tebowl.
If they are paying Tebow more than 10% of the revenue his jersey sales bring in they are paying to much.

18 yard throw (post route), 62 yard run. Thomas clearly beat his man. Most 9th graders can hit that throw. We aren't talking Ben to Santonio here.
