I have done it in the past on my D40x but you got to be careful not to damage you sensor! I have heard of guys that have damage the sensor. I used this but I got the 3 pack http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/24...wab_Type_2.html . My D300 has a sensor cleaner built into the camera and it works pretty good. But if it's ever get bad enough to where it may not work, I'm going just get it sent out to Nikon that way if it get messed up they got to replace it. if you mess it up it might not be able to be fixed. Then your camera will be trash. If you go onto You Tube and do a search there a bunch of Videos on there that shows you how to do it. If you can go with out your camera(or have a back up camera) for a week or two I would get it sent out.
