I was just wondering if the guys and gals out there like their kids looking at what's popping up on this site?? The adms should take a look.

Up until an hour ago, when I downloaded a app to block the ads. Degrading pics of big chested woman. PLUS other very strange things. Bad enough to make me find a cleaner app.
Not what I expected on a hunting forum.

Plus all the add garbage would kill my battery. No problems on another forum, no junk adds like here.
It was better before, and wasn't even a member then.

No, it's this site now.
I don't appreciate what your implying.
Before the change in format all I would see were ads from Duluth trading. Plus I'm on 2 other forums. ALR forum and xbow nation. Neither of them have any garbage like hpa does now.

Let me guess, the moderator is a paid position now.
I guess it's true, you can say whatever to whoever from behind a keyboard.

Also who would somebody report a moderator comment to?

You simply hit the report post icon (triangle with exclamation point) icon on the post. The forum software tells the relevant people about it. You don't message or directly contact a specific person.

I understand your frustration. I have brought the topic to the moderator/admin team for discussion and to see what we can do about it. I'm a mod, not an admin, so I don't have access to the whole system to know if the ads can be managed or not. I do admin/run another forum, and I have zero control over ad content, which I'm not really happy about, but that forum is on free software, so we deal with it.

One suggestion while we sort this out--- AdBlocker is a great add-on to your browser. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to deal with the issues presented here, but in the mean time, it might help you alleviate the issue on your end.

And to address your implication--- no, mods are not paid. My wife can verify that!

I also am struggling with the ads on this site. Often check when at work and it makes it look like I'm up to no good.

Lots of click bait, scam news, and half dressed women. I just try not to scroll to the bottom of a page much.
Kinda sucks...

Are you talking about the political diarrhea spewed on a daily basis? I guess it once went unnoticed but now obnoxiously pops up on the recent discussions panel. Their fellow whiny extremist compadres from the left aren't even here to engage them. Birds of a feather they are. And to think even the vaguest intimations of adult language get censored... Or is it the semi pornographic ads that show up until you log in?

I wish that ad footprint was minimized or the ad load time was made more deficient because it severely impacts total page load times. The page loads..... then I have to wait a few seconds for the ads to load as they will cause the page to re-format. It is really quite annoying on the phone were I cannot load the ad block plus plugin for chrome.

Have you guys disabled the side bar? That thing is an ad laden drag. I only get two small banners at the top and one at the bottom. They are not big at all and are usually gun related. Say what you like but at least 80% of the ads I see on this forum are tailored to my search/web activity history. The others are random stuff - insurance, medical, automotive, etc - nothing even close to semi-pornographic.

Also, I haven't seen an app or mobile version for a forum that was half as good as the desktop version. I always "request desktop site". It's much better in my opinion. I would avoid using a third party app. That's asking for more ads.

Load times are terrible. 10.59 seconds to load this page. Other forums I go to are 2s-5s. Even after a minute behind the scenes the page is waiting on responses 244 resource requests. There are ways to compress these things so they aren't so painful. Loading the home page forum list is like 15s. That is pretty slow performance for something that was just upgraded.

When I enable the ad block plug in, the home page forum list loads in 3.57s. This page loads in 2.83s. The ad framework or plugin that was used is killing the overall performance. Someone needs to take a look at fixing the page load time issues. Its killer on a phone where there isn't the ability for the Ad block plugin to chrome.
