lately some big shad have been dying in the lake and i hear everybody talking about using fish oil and was wondering if you can make your own fish oil for trapping. i can get my hands on about 5-7 pound shad and was wonderi if they would work? any advice would be gretly appreciated.

Check the internet. I found directions how to make it, simply typing making fish oil for trapping in the search engine. I imagine there is a pretty good stink that goes along with it. I find it a lot easier to buy it from a supplier.

im not sure how much fat content you have with shad....

i used trout and catfish when i made my oil...and im here to tell you its alot of work with little to show for it...much easier to buy it than for me to mess with again...

I've made my own a few times. Still have some from the last batch when a buddy gave me a bunch of freezer-burned trout.

As the others have said, it's much easier to just buy it.
