Had a skunk this am just wandering how everyone else gets them out? Without making too much of a stinky mess! I took my .22 and shot him in the head but still gave some good squirts? Thanks for any ideas and help!

I had one in my trap I used my briley extreme ranged choke for waterfowl and stood 20yds away the choke has a range of 70yds for waterfowl. But the skunk I had sprayed before I even got there you get used to the smell after awhile I cant really smell it anymore and its still stuck in my boots and car lol.
Ive found a lung shot with a 22 will keep them from spraying about half the time.

Hmm guess I'll hafta try that next time. Yeah my truck and everything stinks and didn't even get it on me just draws in your clothes. Isn't if they can't get their back legs together they can't spray?
Not that I'm willin' to show ya, but my grandfather told us stories of catching them in the depression for bounty. His dog would keep their attention, and he would sneak up behind when they were watching the dog, and pick them up quickly by the tail. No spray if you got them off their feet quickly when you picked them up. This was usually at nite, and he was a VERY patient man! Never did tell me how he dispatched them tho!! LOL!! I imagine a knock on the head while hanging by the tail. 22's cost $$ then. We did watch him release skunks out of live traps - very slowly, but never got hit. He wasn't given to telling tall tales.
I usually use a pole. If not, shoot behind shoulder. If they spray, all is good/even better. Reset, and add a new set just downwind of the circle.
