Found this small herd while glassing for mule deer with a friend who drew a mulie tag. Second picture - I doubt that the ram in the second picture will be the herd ram as his curl is not sufficient to compete with the big guys.

Nice. What state? I use to watch a few in Cal and seen the most in Nevada but seen them from the AZ side when camping below the hoover dam. Waugh!

"Nice. What state? "

Arizona. I have/had some really good pictures of HUGH rams but my computer went belly up and they could not retrieve them. My son may have them saved on this computer, if so I'll post them.

P.S. We did find a very nice mulie buck who later found his way to the freezer. :grin2:

What does the state require, a 3/4 curl or to the corner of the eye?

About what part of the state were you guys in? My parents are planning on retiring down there, at least thru the winter months, and there's something about desert deer hunting that really intrigues me. I'm hoping to make an annual trip out of it at some point.

"What does the state require, a 3/4 curl or to the corner of the eye?"

From the Arizona Hunting Regulation: Any male bighorn sheep, excluding male lambs.

"About what part of the state were you guys in?"

Southeastern corner. But I would apply for a tag in the Northeastern part of the state White Mountains or the Northwestern part of the state.

You would think so, but you are only allowed one in a lifetime so I don't think anyone is going to kill a ram the size of the one I posted. Many, many years ago I guided a husband and wife on a desert sheep hunt, she had the tag not her husband. We passed on many rams until we finally found a ram she wanted. This sheep would make her fourth for a Grand Slam. I do have a picture of me and her.

I should add that I was in my mid-forties when that picture was taken. Hair is no longer black and whatever is left is a very distinguish gray. :grin2:
