I'm trapping a pasture pond that is giving me two problems. First, its deep with deep mud at the bottom. Second, cows drink off the one side so the water is always cloudy.
Normally I set my body grips in runs. But this is not working out because the water is too deep and murky for me to find the runs and when I do I'm having fits getting the trap in the right place because I cant see what I'm doing.
I know the rats are there, there is four houses. So I'm looking to try baited sets. Anybody know how to make a baited set for rats?
Thanks.

Yep, just kick a little pocket/slide into the bank, slice of apple on a stick right above the trap. Just wire to stake in deeper water, no need for slide wires on muskrats as long as the chain/wire are tight. Stake well as this is also a killer coon set.

Thanks for the replies. I have read about the sets your suggesting. I had no clue if they worked or not. Cool to try something new. Ill be setting some of both of them tomorrow. Thanks again.
