Only 1 guy in the crew went out this morning. He just got back and didn't see anything. Wind is terrible up on the mountain.

I came in the house at 1000, had coyotes up above my location on the hill about 1/4 mile away howling as I walked in.
Needless to dsay I didn't see anything either. Was hoping to put a .58 cal round ball through one of those yotes!
Gonna have a hot bowl of soup for lunch and head back out on the winter wheat field around 3pm

At this rate with all the coyote issues, it's going to be .223 and #4 buckshot come Jan 16 - and on.
There was a calf killed by yotes down the road from us in this summer.
Shouldn't have trouble getting any permission from any of the neighboring properties to go after them.

Went out this morning, did a 3 mile loop on game lands in 3D.......only thing I saw was an archery hunter walking out. He didn't see anything either. Very hard walking on paths & trails due to the crunchy ice/snow.
Fresh snow supposed to be dropping tomorrow morning. Might try a slow walk through the hemlocks or pines.

Same result as yesterday. Not a single tail but flushed 2 grouse. Starting to think I should be carrying the shotgun instead
Came home this morning...Figured I should be an adult and get ready to go back to work tomorrow. You know...Laundry, shopping for lunch supplies etc.
I can do that this evening.
Met my buddy and started hunting a little before noon...3rd small push a couple doe came by. Figured I better take the shot.
The gun I built went off like a champ and the 300gr Thor hammered her. 50yds and piled up. The blood was very impressive and what I was hoping to see. Thumb easily went into the exit hole. The lungs and internal trauma was awesome.
Try to get pics after we're done. Hopefully I can put a buck on the ground today too!

Saw a fox and one squirrel this afternoon. Got in my stand at around 2:45., stayed till dark. My son started in his one stand then moved to his old one. He jumped one yearling. That was it. All those deer I saw on Monday. All gone today. Gonna see what the weather is like tomorrow. I'm supposed to work again but, if we get any freezing rain, I'm not going in. If we get any snow I will be out on stand.

made it out for 2 hours Monday morning and 2 hours tonight. had company all day Monday and a death in the family yesterday. will have to wait until Saturday to get back out. good luck everyone!
Cocked the gun, but in the process of getting in position, I also got busted. Too many eyes......they didn't bolt, but they did bunch up, leaving me with no clear shot at any of the several deer in front of me. Then they trotted away to about 170 yards, looked back at me, and went back to feeding as if to give me the middle hoof....
It's 5C....I can be patient. One of them will get a yellow ear tag before this is over.

I got nestled in one of the blinds at 2:45. At 3:45 a mother and 2 yearlings fed through just out of range in the thicket. At 4:45 the coyotes started down in the hollow below me and it was a wrap. There were quite a few down in there and they were really singing tonight. Come the 15th the foxpro and the .222 will be a nightly endevor. Back at it tommorow.
