Not sure what to do here, I somehow left my crossbow cocked the whole off season. Is it still safe to fire to uncock? I was planning on having a new string put on this season.

As you can tell, I am not a real avid deer hunter, I may go out two or three times a year.

Any info would be helpful, and yes, i know it was a stupid thing to do.

1st. hunt more... 2nd. you can buy a bag.$20.00 for discharge. Don't shoot in ground the arrow sinks into the fletch hard to get out. carry field pt. for discharge. It'snot the string it's the limbs that you need to worry about....later

I did the same thing, only with my lever action 30-30.
Took it out of the scabbard to show a friend and it was cocked. Only since the last time at the range, and no harm done to the gun, but it was embarrassing.

Thanks for the advise, I shot it, and it was fine. Shot it some more afterwards, seems to be ok to me. Hitting targets dead on at 30 yards, can't ask for more than that.
