People may want to contact Patrick Leahy from Vermont. See article- http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/p...c565_story.html

While I do not truly trust any politicians. I watched Patrick Leahy speak on tv last night. From what I saw, he seems like a level headed guy. When asked about gun control he said that they might be able to do something about the gun show loop hole and commenting that Vermont has a bullet limit while hunting deer. Why shouldn't our children also have a limit? Something like that. It may be a good idea if we contact him to express our concerns. Remember that Vermont has some of the best gun laws in the country. Why should we contact him? He is in the Senate Judiciary Committee with people like Feinstein. http://www.public.asu.edu/~dkarjala/congress/senatjud.html

He may be the voice of reason in the room while Feinstein is freaking out. I plan to tell him things like why I need more bullets while protecting my own children. And that law abiding citizens should not be punished because of one man.

Leahy is not and I repeat is not a level headed guy. He is a snake and as chairman of the judiciary committee holds a lot of power. If he could he would confiscate every gun. Think of Leahy as Feinstein in street clothes.
I really don't know anything about him. I thought he might be their weaker point with the concerns that he is going to slow them down. I'm just looking for weak spots to try to take advantage of.
I've been following gun control measures for over 30 years now. Starting when I lived in Maryland and they wanted to ban handguns (I think that was the fight at the time).

On the national level Leahy has never sided with the 2nd amendment. He always supports the most liberal and fights the conservative supreme court nominees. As chairman, he puts on the mask of being reasonable but he is as liberal as they come.

Couple comments on weak links in the senate. Any dem senator who is elected in a red state is definitely in a weak spot. I think even Casey, if enough pressure was placed on him could be pushed. Problem with Casey is that he was just re-elected to six more years and will probably not be swayed. Those up for re-election in 2014 are vulnerable.

Another problem is unless you live in their state, the chances of them listening to those who don't vote in their state is slim. Now money sent to pro 2A candidates can pay off as can joining the NRA.

+1... "Voice of reason" and "level headed" should not ever be used in the same sentence with the name Patrick Leahy.
