To hunt timber rattlers in Pa a person needs a permit and a fishing license. The snake has to be a male over so long blah blah blah. The confusion comes in with the permit. It says on the PFBC site that a permit can not be obtained before Jan 1st no later than July 15th. The season starts June 11th to July 31st. Am I friggin missing something here?

I believe they probably sell quite a few licenses after the beginning of the season because people hear of other people doing it and get interested in it through the different round-ups that a lot of people attend. No sense in turning away someones $25

The PGC has cutoff dates so that people don't take first then go buy the permit. At least how the PGC explains it. Second turkey, bobcat etc...

If one agency has a cutoff date for special permits, it is reasonable that the other agency would as well.
