Are you sure that'a chaga? Looks like maybe a bear was on that log.:grin2: Have you ever had chaga tea?

I have a cup every night. Have maybe 8 pounds of chaga drying now.

Found this approx. 2 foot chaga fungus behind camp Saturday

Sorry if you already know this, but if you harvest it don't take it all. Leave some and you can come back again and again. I've been using the same trees for many years.

My search for chaga in south western PA continues. Is it more prevalent up north? Seems that birch trees are easier to find up north.

Yeah, the pic loaded sideways. That's actually growing on the side of the tree. We already have quite a bit so we left this.

It may be hard to find farther south. I really don't know as I have never looked there. It is easy to find here. I have the most success checking birch trees that grow along streams or even wet weather drainage channels.
