I’m kicking around the idea of picking up a crossbow. The sniper has good reviews and a easy to take price. I also like the idea of the adjustable length stock. My son is getting close to mentor age and thought that might be a good fit. Anyone have one? Are they any good? I don’t expect to be making pinpoint shots at 75yrds. Just wanting to know if it’s “good enough” for deer in the 35-40 max range?

Cscott1, I have one and enjoy it. With the right bolts it shoots pretty good. I can't put em in a softball size bullseye all day at 50 yards my best advice to give is shoot a few different crossbows if at all possible and see which ones you like.. if you do purchase one get rid of the arrows that come with the package and buy one of the more popular brand bolts. Hope this helps ya out

That really is not good advice. The crossbolts that come in a package with the crossbow are the proper weight and spine for the crossbow.

WW, sorry you feel that way sir. It's more common then you might think.I believe the manual that comes with it doesn't specifically state that you must use them bolts. Just gives a minimum grain(400 I believe) and Nock requirement(moon knock).

I bought one last year and was very pleased with how it shot. Only took 3 shots to zero at 20 yds. and the 30 yard reticle was dead on also. Using the 40 yard reticle I was about 1 1/2" low but 2 shots went in the same hole. This was off a solid rest. The trigger took some getting used to as it had a lot of creep, almost feels like a 2 stage trigger? Several friends at camp who have a lot more expensive set ups commented on the speed and how quiet it was.

I have one too and love it, they are fast and accurate. I killed a doe with it last fall. I use the Beaman 20” bolts and they fly great out of it using a fixed blade

I bought a sniper last year killed a deer with it.
Was hitting a piece of tape at 40 yards within ten minutes of putting it together.

However I sold it after shooting the killer instinct furious. It without a doubt has the best trigger on the market . Its 370 fps really quiet and smooth.
For a few bucks more then the sniper. My only nock on the sniper was the trigger. A ton of creep.
Check out the KI brand before you buy. Very good quality now for the money. Made in Michigan I believe.

For what it’s worth the scope on those are junk, at least mine was anyways. I put a Hawke red dot sight, 3 dots, on it and they were all on target 20 30 and 40 yards. I can’t see shooting past 40

I have one and it is dead nuts out to 40 yards with the scope that comes with it. The bolts that come with it are lighter than most on the market and I did have to make some adjustments when I bought heavier ones. I do not consider this crossbow to be very quiet, but I should say that this is my first crossbow, so I have no basis for comparison except against my vertical bow...which is MUCH quitter than this crossbow. It is very fast and easy to set up and shoot. I like it enough that I've relegated my vertical bow to warmer days earlier in the year and I take the crossbow when it's cold and I anticipate a long sit. For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with this crossbow. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but this one suits me well and it didn't break the bank.

Vicory xbolts are my choice

Shoot good in all my bows

Trial and error is only thing that really works for this.

Good Luck, Stant

I like mine. I shot a big doe with mine this year. I like the speed. The original bolts are light so they shoot a little flatter than what I was going to use as replacements. I decided to keep using the originals. Mine shoots pretty good.

My son has one. Trigger with a lot of creep beside that it’s great value for the money. But if I was you I would spend 150 more and get a killer instinct
