went looking for ditch chickens again today.
I seem to be finding a lot of misplaced birds this time in 3D

I seen it flush downwind of us in cut corn and seen about where it landed.
I thought it was a woodcock at first so I circled back down and put it up wind.
the pup found it pretty quick and it flushed into a briar hedgerow.
she cornered it under a large fallen pine limb and wasn't coming out.
I had to go in myself after it or else it was gonna get mauled.

It's far prettier than a standard bobwhite as far as I'm concerned
Im sure it pretty common to think bobwhites are just another brown bird. I guess I probably thought the same thing until I raised them. After watching them mature from fuzzy chick to getting there adult feather, I was amazed at how pretty the little brown birds really were.
Thats just how I saw it.

The title of this thread made me so curious I had to read it. Really glad I did now, good for a laugh. Loved the penguin comment

I just saw a pen full of coturnix quail so that was my guess too. It is colored funny even for a coturnix but they do have some weird colored ones.
