I have been planting stuff yesterday and today . Well I dig the hole , put the plant in , and then there is not enough dirt to fill in around the plant. Now if the plant is taking up space shouldn't there be extra dirt,?

I think you need to dig the hole two times deeper then the hight of the plant then you will have plenty of dirt to fill in the hole

you eather have too much dirt or less dirt then you need when you dig a hole does seem to depend on the moon phase!

It's simple. Just follow this formula.

4+X(3)xY{>@} = Pd/Dd

Pd/Dd being, in this case, Plant depth/Dirt displacement. BTW, if you get the X mixed up withe the Y expect a visit from Homeland Security.
