This might be a dumb question but I was a little curious. I recently turned 16 and was wondering if I could open carry a revolver while, we'll say groundhog or small game hunting or into fall turkey without and adult accompanying me? Or do I have to wait until I'm 18 to get my sportsmanship permit? Thanks, Hunter

From what I understand you may carry a revolver at your age as long as you are not transporting it in a vehicle, and you are not concealing it. The sportsman' permit allows you to transport the pistol for hunting, which is not covered under the exceptions.

"9) Persons licensed to hunt, take furbearers or fish in this Commonwealth, if such persons are actually hunting, taking furbearers or fishing or are going to the places where they desire to hunt, take furbearers or fish or returning from such places."

I'm pretty sure you have to be 18 for a sportsman's permit. Just follow the provided link in the first response on the PSP website it states it there.
