Too flimsy IMO...

I believe I use 11ga...my cables have a section of rubber/plastic tubing...i secure the wire to a stout 1" or so stick..i drive that into the ground and run my wire out and slip it into the tubing..

Lots of different ways to do it...but that worked for me...

I drive the stick in so it's secure but not so secure it can't be moved/knocked down once the catch it made...

Something like that...

Coat hanger and #9 wire are stiff and sorta hard to work with. But they will do the job.
Are you folks using a whammy? Just make sure your whammy (rubber tube or cone shaped spring) is large enough for wire to fit.

Twisted #11 wire welded to a 40D Spike with welded washer to keep it form spinning.
Nice and stiff yet still allows it to collapse so it doesn't become an entanglement. Works fantastic. I've got about 200 made up.
