I want to make up a few cables with adjustable loops on the ends. I got the cable and ferrules and crimper but cant remember how to just crimp one side of the ferrule and let the other slide through. Please help, thanks!

I just use a pair of pliers to hold the one side of the ferrule then smack the pliers with a hammer

I don't crimp my double ferrule at all.
Just thread the cable in the double ferrule to make the loop, and hammer a single ferrule or annealed steel nut on the tag end.
Voila, an adjustable loop.
