This from our brothers in North Carolina.

Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City, N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician's home county said.

The intruder, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen andBrunswick counties..

The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff's Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.

"I am not in a position to talk to you," Soles said by telephone. "I'm right in the middle of an investigation."

The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do As I Say And Not As I Do" Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.

It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

In my opinion, slim to none. Also IMO, most politicians are out of touch with reality.
See if this rings a bell, oh learned one:

If we eliminated all the personal bodyguards and police protection from the legislators and rich liberals their objection to personal gun ownership would disappear.
Do as I say, not as I do. Perfect and thanks for bringing this to the atttention of the board. This reinforces the point of view that the ruling elite are more than willing to let the great unwashed working masses be subjected to the criminal and predatory elements while they protect themselves. Shut up - pay your taxes! Any resistance against the current administration is due to "Tea baggers"! You don't need God because you have us Democrats now! I only hope that the left-wing liberals keep speaking thier minds and reveal their real selves.

Yep, old curmudgeon. THE ANIMAL FARM, by George Orwell.
He wont change his tune because he believes we are beneath him and that we, given the same situation would make drasticly different and dangerous judgements.
The subject of who should and shouldn't be able to own firearms here, has a long history of such double standards. Especially when it comes to commie-lib politicians and their supporters among the news media and celebrities.

Columnist Carl Rowan, who long supported handgun bans for the rabble, yet shot at kids in his yard with his own handgun; Ted Kennedy's bodyguard caught with a machine pistol (Mac 10?), minus the proper permits, etc.
Interesting situation happening here... after seeing this post I wanted to know more about the guy...

Sole indicted
ah!!!1 nothing like the ruling elite telling the unwashed masses what is best for them while exempting themselves.
NRA gave him an A in 2008 on his lifetime voting record on gun issues, what am I missing?
That horse butt washington Columnist Rowan, did s similar thing 20 years ago, railed against private ownership of firearms, but found it necessary to shoot a skinny dipping teenager he caught in his pool one night. With a gun given to him, illegally in DC, by his FBI agent son. Guess he was startled by a naked white kid in his pool.

Carl Rowan used illegal handgun to shoot at children

"Rowan, who had advocated strict handgun control, found himself in the center of a gun controversy during the 1980s when he was arrested and charged with using an unregistered weapon to wound a teen-ager who intruded into his backyard. Rowan argued that he had the right to use whatever means necessary to protect himself and his family. The jury deadlocked and the judge hearing the case declared a mistrial." Source: "Columnist Carl Rowan dies at age 75", CNN, 23 September 2000

"In 1988, Rowan shot and wounded in the wrist an intruder who had trespassed on his property in Washington and used his swimming pool. Rowan said he had fired because the youth was trying to break into his house and refused to stop when ordered to do so. He also said the pistol he used was exempt from the District's strict gun-control laws because it belonged to his older son, a former FBI agent. District officials disagreed and charged the columnist with violating those laws. A highly publicized trial ended with a hung jury." "Rowan was 'a towering presence' in Washington -- and a [censored] of a song-and-dance man, writes fellow Sun-Times commentator Robert Novak. Novak adds that Rowan's 1988 run-in with teenagers skinny-dipping in his pool (he shot one of them in the wrist) 'led to the only really negative publicity in his career.' Odds are no. Money is coming from the left I'd presume.
The Chances of his tune changing are likely 100% seeing what is posted is not accurate, he is not anti gun.
