Burris Combo ...

Been looking at the Burris offer where if you buy A fullfield 3x9x40 you receive a free .22 scope. I need a scope for a 30-30 and could use a decent.22 scope. Any pros or cons on these?? Thanks...

Re: Burris Combo ...

I never owned a Burris but never heard anything bad about them either..
Re: Burris Combo ...

This is just my opinion, so please don't flame me.

At one time Burris was a proud American made company. They made great products.

Now most of their products come from the Philippines and China.

What they are doing is offering a buy one get one free marketing campaign. So what do you honestly think they are worth??

Get a second one free is something I expect on those stupid TV commercials. Tom.

I agree with Hogghead!
Re: Burris Combo ...

Yeah, the free thingy hit Home with me! Guess it`s a vision in your Head thing. Probably just get another Pro-Staff for it......
Re: Burris Combo ...

I had a new Burris and it was a fine scope. I have no complaints at all and I got a spotting scope with it.
Re: Burris Combo ...

I would get a more compact scope for a thuddy-thuddy; 2-7x32 etc.

BOGO is always a do yer homework deal.
Re: Burris Combo ...

I shudder to think what things are like with their foreign-made stuff....I've had more issues over the years with US-made Burris scopes than with all the other brands I own, combined....

When the American buyer starts boycotting the cheap, overseas junk maybe the companies peddling these goods will get the message....with Wal-Mart being at the top of the list.....

End of rant.....
Re: Burris Combo ...

Anything you get FREE is worth exactly what you paid for it.
Re: Burris Combo ...

I bought the combo with the binoculars 2 years ago. The scope is made in the Phillipines as mentioned above. The quality of the scope is good and clarity would rival my leupolds. But I were in your shoes I would look into the new Redfield 2-7. Better price, better warranty, Made in USA
Re: Burris Combo ...

I have a 2 Burris Fullfields (2x7x35)and they are very nice scopes. They certainly rival the lower to midrange Leupolds in optical quality.

I don't know to much about free 22 scope. I think I heard elsewhere that it was Chinese made and about what you expect for a 25 or 30 dollar scope.
Re: Burris Combo ...

I bought my first Burris scope last year - it was an older model Fullfield II 1.75-5x20 scope. It is a nice scope.

I would stick with the FullField II or higher models if I were to buy anything new from them.

I plan to continue to buy Leupold and Nikon to fill most of my needs in scopes and binoc's
Re: Burris Combo ...

I prefer to buy American, but I don't equate overseas with poor quality. Poor design and poor materials IMO which are chosen by the manufacturer are just, if not more responsible for crappy products. Look at the auto industry.
