Please, don't try to stop me as I will not back away from the ledge. Except for the Traditional ML season coming up after Christmas, it's going to be a long winter. So, it's going to be an Isaak Haines .50 build - but I can't decide on if I should get a Jim Chambers or Track of the Wolf kit. Looking over the available on-line information, I am kind of swayed toward TOTW because of all the options and the instant calculator that pops the price right up in front of you. Any suggestions (please don't tell me to have my head examined because that's been, unsuccessfully, done already) will be gratefuly accepted.

Have a great winter turning all those parts into a family heirloom. I have one more to do before the eyes can no longer accomplish the inletting. He graduates from H.S. in two years. I'm leaning toward a Berks Co. rifle for some reason.

Jim Chambers will be in Lewisburg the first weekend of Feb. Last year I called and had him bring me a fowler kit. Saved quite a bit on shipping and got to talk to him personally. Send him a check in advance and save on tax too.

You went with a great gun and even better man/daughter team to buy from. Ive known Barbi and jim for a few years now. They (IMHO) sell and stand behind the best kits out there.

Wise decision going with the chambers parts. I have never heard a bad word said about there guns.

Yep; I would go Chambers as well. I would also go .54 if doing it. Chambers assembled locks are the best on the market. Issac Haines is an outstanding choice. Have fun and take your time.

Good choice. Enjoy it and don't rush it! If you get frustrated just walk away and come back another day. Keep us posted in how its going. I have my winter projects lined up too. A refinish on a custom 50 cal flintlock I've hunted hard with and needs some maintenance, and a .32 cal caplock kit I plan to build but add my own touches and get a little experience in carving before I take on a build from scratch job.
