I have a Horton SL 165 # crossbow. I have been making arrows for years for my compound and recurve..what is the best aluminum shaft to use? 2219 ?? I am looking to cut them to around a 20 inch bolt., using 100 gr. tips, with 5 inch left helical Fletching.

Any input would be appreciated. thanks.

Yes, the 2219 should work well in the Horton. You might want to re-think the helical fletching though. It can be difficult to get the helical set up to slide properly through the barrel channel. We use a 2 degree offset instead. You may also want to try 4 inch vanes. It will keep more weight forward. You will find that somewhere between 15-18% weight forward (F.O.C.) will make it more accurate.
